Your Black Friday page should be live by October 15
Black Friday is November 27 this year. The shoppers who will buy from you that weekend are deciding where to buy in October, on a phone, from whatever page answers first. Here is what that page must show, a week-by-week checklist that ends on October 15, and how to have it on screen in about a minute with JustCopy.
Why the deadline is in October
The National Retail Federation asked shoppers when they planned to start. Forty-two percent said before November, and the two reasons they gave were spreading out the budget, at 54 percent, and avoiding last-minute stress, at 41 percent. The NRF adds that about two in five shoppers have started before November for several years running, and that retailers have answered by launching holiday sale events as early as October. (NRF, October 16, 2025 release and winter holiday FAQ; checked September 2026.)
The money this year is expected to grow but to be spent carefully. Deloitte forecasts holiday retail sales of $1.70 trillion to $1.71 trillion for November 2026 through January 2027, up 4.0 to 4.8 percent, with online sales of $316.1 billion to $318.9 billion, up 7.5 to 8.4 percent. The same release describes value-seeking behavior across income levels, including switching among brands and retailers and using promotions to manage spending. (Deloitte, September 10, 2026; checked September 2026.) In Deloitte’s last consumer survey, seven in ten shoppers said they were engaging in value-seeking behaviors and 82 percent planned to shop Black Friday through Cyber Monday. (Deloitte 2025 Holiday Retail Survey, October 14, 2025; checked September 2026.)
Put those together and the picture is simple. More people shop early, they are looking for a deal, and they compare on a phone before they commit. Adobe counted $257.8 billion spent online in the United States between November 1 and December 31 last year, and 25 separate days over $4 billion, up from 18 the year before. That is a season spread across weeks, not one weekend. (Adobe, January 7, 2026; checked September 2026.)
The calendar is also tighter than usual. Main Street America points out that Small Business Saturday falls on November 28 this year, only 27 days before Christmas, and its advice to shop owners is to build the holiday calendar now rather than in November. (Main Street America, September 8, 2026; checked September 2026.) A page that is live on October 15 has six weeks to be found, shared and corrected before the weekend it was built for.
What the page must show
Not a redesign of your whole site. One page, on a phone, that answers the five questions a deal shopper asks in the order they ask them.
The price, and the Black Friday price
Both numbers, side by side, on every item you are discounting. A shopper comparing on a phone will not open a second page to find out what the deal is. If the discount is a percentage, write the final price anyway.
Pickup or shipping, and the cutoff
Say which you offer and the last day an order can be placed to arrive or be collected before December 25. If pickup is free and shipping costs money, say so in the same line.
What is in stock
Mark the items you have on hand and the ones you can order. Nothing costs a sale faster than a checkout that ends with an email saying the item is gone. Update this line as the stock moves.
The deal dates
When the offer opens and when it closes, written as dates, not "this weekend". This year Thanksgiving is November 26, Black Friday November 27, Small Business Saturday November 28 and Cyber Monday November 30. Put the dates that apply to you at the top of the page.
A way to order
A cart and a checkout, or a short order form with a name, a phone number and what they want. It has to work on a phone. If someone has to call to order, most of them will not.
Everything else, the story of the shop, the photos of the team, the long about section, can wait. A shopper who found the price, the dates, the stock and the order button has what they came for.
The checklist, week by week
Today is September 20. There are three full weeks and a few days to October 15. Here is how to spend them.
- 1
This week, September 21 to 27
Decide the offer
Pick the items, the discount and the dates. Write the pickup and shipping rules in one sentence each. Take a photo of each item on a plain background with your phone. This is the only week that needs thinking; the rest is typing.
- 2
September 28 to October 4
Get the page on screen
Open the online store example, put your shop name on it, keep it. Replace the sample products with yours: name, price, photo, in stock or not. Add the deal dates and the pickup and shipping line. Publish it, even if it is not finished, so you have a link.
- 3
October 5 to 11
Test it as a customer would
On your own phone, find an item, add it to the cart, check out. Read the order in your Data tab. Send the link to two people who do not work for you and ask them to order something. Fix what confused them by pointing at it and retyping.
- 4
October 12 to 15
Put it on your own domain and share it
Move the page to your own web address if you want it there. Print the QR code for the counter. Put the link in your Instagram bio, your Google Business Profile and your email signature. From October 15 on, every post you make points at this page.
The order matters. Publishing in week two, before the page is finished, feels early. It is the point. A published page has a link you can test, share and correct, and the corrections are the part that makes the page good.
How the online store gets you there in a minute
The online store is one of twelve apps JustCopy built by hand and keeps ready. Open the online store exampleon the homepage and it appears in about a second, with a product catalog, a cart, a checkout form that saves each order, a shipping and returns row, and a few answered questions. Type your shop’s name under it and it lands on the page. Keep it, and it is yours in the studio.
You can also describe it. Type one sentence such as “An online store for my bookshop with a catalog, a cart and checkout” and the same store is built for that business, with your words on it. Either way the page exists before you have finished your coffee, and every order a customer places shows up in your Data tab with their name, email and address.
After a build, the app is used on screen in front of you: an item is added to the cart, the checkout is filled in, and anything that fails is fixed before the studio says it is done. You watch it work before you send anyone the link.
What to change by hand
The store arrives with sample products. Five things turn it into your Black Friday page, and none of them uses a daily build.
Product names and prices
Press "Click to change", double-click the sample name, type yours, press Save. Do the same for each price. This never uses one of your daily builds.
The deal dates and the cutoff
Type "Add a line under the heading: Black Friday prices from November 27 to 30, order by December 18 for pickup" in the chat. A text change like this takes a few seconds and is free.
The stock line
Ask for "in stock" and "order by request" labels on the products. When something sells out, double-click the label and change it.
The colour
Say "Use dark green" or "Make it warmer". A colour change on a platform-built page is a few seconds and free.
A section that is missing
Ask for "a returns and gift receipt section after the products" or "a pickup hours section". Adding a section from the library takes seconds.
Then publish. One tap saves and publishes, and you get the live link, a QR code and a Copy link button. On the free plan the page carries a small JustCopy badge. Hobby, at $9.99 a month, puts it on your own domain without the badge. If you want the wider holiday page with hours, directions and a way to ask a question, that is covered in Your Holiday Shop Page, Live Before October; this post is only about the deal.
Questions
Why October 15 and not the week before Thanksgiving?
Because two in five holiday shoppers begin browsing and buying before November, according to the National Retail Federation, and retailers now open sale events in October. A page that goes live the week of Thanksgiving misses the shoppers who decided in October where they would buy.
Do I need a separate Black Friday page or can I use my normal site?
One page that shows the offer, the dates, the stock and a way to order is enough. If your current site cannot show those on a phone, build the page beside it on the free plan and link to it from the old site.
What does the online store come with?
A product catalog with categories, a cart, and a checkout form that saves each order with the customer's name, email and address to your studio's Data tab. You take payment the way you do today: at pickup, on delivery or by invoice.
How much does it cost to keep the page up through December?
The free plan publishes it with a small JustCopy badge and gives you three AI builds a day and five projects. Hobby, at $9.99 a month, puts it on your own domain with no badge and five builds a day. Changing text, prices, colours and sections is free on every plan.
What counts as a build?
A turn where the AI writes or rewrites your app, such as adding a feature that is not in the library. Retyping a price by pointing at it, changing a colour, or adding a library section are not builds and do not count against the daily number.
Can I change prices during Black Friday weekend?
Yes, from your phone. Double-click the price, type the new one, save. The published page updates. Do the same for the stock labels when something sells out.
Have the page live this week, not in November
Open the online store, put your shop’s name on it, replace the products with yours, publish. Free, no card, and October 15 is still three weeks away.
