What Lovable credits actually cost you (2026)
Lovable prices everything in credits: the messages you send, the app once it is live, and the AI features inside it. The number on the pricing page is easy to read. What it buys is not. This is the plain version, from Lovable's own documentation, followed by what the same work costs on JustCopy.
What a credit is
Lovable's documentation defines a credit as “the unit Lovable uses to measure and pay for usage across your workspace”. Since June 2026 there is one balance, and it pays for three different things: building the app by sending messages, hosting it and running its backend on Lovable Cloud, and the AI features a published app uses on behalf of its users. All of that is from docs.lovable.dev, checked September 2026.
The important word is “one”. A credit is not a message. It is a currency, and different things cost different amounts of it. That is why two people on the same plan can have very different months.
What one message costs
In build mode, the mode that writes and changes code, the cost of a message depends on what you asked for. Lovable's docs give illustrative examples: “Make the button gray” at 0.50 credits, up to “Build a landing page with images” at 2.00 credits, with the note that “actual credits used vary depending on the complexity and scope of your specific project”. Plan mode, where you talk through an idea without editing code, is 1 credit per message plus the cost of any research it runs (checked September 2026, docs.lovable.dev).
So a message is somewhere between half a credit and a couple of credits, and you find out the exact figure after you send it. A fix is charged the same way as a feature. So is a question you ask in plan mode. So is the message where you explain that the last change did not do what you wanted.
What $25 buys
The Pro plan's entry tier is 100 credits a month for $25 billed monthly, or $21 a month if you pay $250 for the year. The tiers go up in steps: 200 credits for $50, 400 for $100, and on up to 10,000 credits a month. The Business plan costs twice as much per credit, starting at 100 credits for $50 (checked September 2026, docs.lovable.dev, Subscription plans).
Put the two pages together. At the documented examples, 100 credits is between 50 build messages (if every one is a full landing page) and 200 (if every one is a small style change). A realistic month sits in the middle, mixed with plan-mode questions at 1 credit each. Every paid plan also keeps the daily grant of 5 build credits and a monthly grant of 20 Cloud credits, so the real monthly figure on the entry Pro tier is a little above 100, on the condition that you show up and use the daily ones.
When the balance reaches zero, “building stops until credits are available”. Extra credits are $0.30 each on Pro and $0.60 each on Business. Unused monthly credits roll over while you stay subscribed, but the pricing page's FAQ says monthly plan credits expire two months after they are issued, and that credits are not refundable (checked September 2026, lovable.dev/pricing and docs.lovable.dev).
The free plan is 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits a month. Free does not include a custom domain, code editing, or removing the “Edit with Lovable” badge (checked September 2026, docs.lovable.dev).
The same work on JustCopy
JustCopy does not sell credits. A build is one message that asks the model to build or change your app, and every plan has a daily number of them. Free is 3 builds a day and 5 projects, with the JustCopy badge on what you publish. Hobby is $9.99 a month for 5 builds a day, your site live on your own domain and no badge. Starter is $24.99 a month for 10 builds a day, 2 sites on your own domains and a download of your site's code. Professional is $49.99 for 25 builds a day and 5 domains, and it includes Rosa, the front desk agent who answers customers on your site. Business is $99.99 for 50 builds a day and 10 domains. These are the plans on the pricing page today.
The second difference is what does not count. When JustCopy builds your first page from one of its ready-made apps, a restaurant, a clinic, a store, a portfolio, that page is made of parts the platform knows. Changing a word, a price, a color, or adding and removing a section is done without a model turn, in a few seconds, and is free on every plan including Free. On Lovable, the same “make the button gray” is a message, and the docs put it at about half a credit.
The third difference is fixes. After every build, JustCopy uses the app in the preview the way a customer would, and anything that fails is repaired in a free fix turn. From our build logs for 13 to 19 September 2026: 128 first builds, 199 automatic repairs, and $0 charged to owners for those repairs. On a credit model, each of those repairs would have been a message.
Line it up against the Pro entry tier. A Hobby owner has about 150 builds a month for $9.99 and a Starter owner about 300 for $24.99, with small edits and repairs on top at no cost. A Lovable Pro subscriber has 100 credits for $25, which is 50 to 200 messages depending on what each one asks for, with edits and fixes included in that count.

Where a credit model is fine
Credits are an honest way to charge for compute when compute is what you are buying. If you are a developer who edits the generated code by hand, keeps several apps in one workspace, or builds an app whose own AI use rises and falls with its users, one balance that tracks all of it is reasonable. Lovable's rebuilt usage page shows which project and which member spent what, and a developer can read that and act on it.
The model is a worse fit for an owner who wants one site, wants to change it in plain words, and does not want to learn what a credit is. That person is not buying compute. They are buying a finished page and the ability to keep it current. A daily number of builds, free small changes and free repairs are easier to predict than a balance that moves with every message, and easier to explain to the person who pays the card.
If you are the first kind of person, Lovable's pricing may suit you. If you are the second, the numbers above are the ones to compare.
Questions
What is a Lovable credit?
Lovable's documentation calls a credit "the unit Lovable uses to measure and pay for usage across your workspace". One balance pays for building the app, hosting it on Lovable Cloud, and the AI features a published app uses (checked September 2026, docs.lovable.dev).
How many credits does one message cost on Lovable?
It varies. Lovable's docs give illustrative examples from 0.50 credits for "Make the button gray" to 2.00 credits for "Build a landing page with images", and say actual use depends on the complexity of your project. Plan mode is 1 credit per message plus any research it does (checked September 2026, docs.lovable.dev).
What does $25 buy on Lovable?
The Pro plan's entry tier is 100 credits a month for $25 billed monthly, or $21 a month billed annually. At the documented examples that is somewhere between 50 and 200 build messages a month. Extra credits are $0.30 each on Pro (checked September 2026, docs.lovable.dev).
Do Lovable credits roll over?
Unused monthly plan credits roll over while the subscription is active, but Lovable's pricing page says monthly plan credits expire two months after they are issued, and the daily free grants do not roll over (checked September 2026, lovable.dev/pricing and docs.lovable.dev).
How does JustCopy price the same work?
Builds are a daily quota on every plan: 3 a day free, 5 a day on Hobby at $9.99, 10 on Starter at $24.99, 25 on Professional at $49.99 and 50 on Business at $99.99. Text, color and section changes on a page JustCopy built for you are free and do not count against the quota.
Is a credit model ever the better deal?
Yes, when you are a developer editing code, running several apps under one workspace, or shipping an app whose own AI use is large and uneven. Credits track compute honestly in that case. For an owner who wants one site built and changed in plain words, a daily quota is simpler to predict.
Three builds a day, free. No credits to count.
Describe your business in one sentence. The site is on screen in seconds, and the small changes never cost a build.
