Meta Put an AI in Your WhatsApp. Your Business Still Needs a Front Door.
In May 2026 Meta launched Business AI for small businesses in India. If you run a shop, a clinic or a restaurant, that is good news. It is also not the whole job.
What Meta actually shipped
On 14 May 2026 Meta announced Business AI inside the WhatsApp Business app for small businesses in India. In Meta’s words it lets a business respond to customers around the clock, capture leads, book appointments and recommend products, in all native Indian languages, with no coding and no third-party tools. Eligible businesses must meet certain criteria (Meta Newsroom, 14 May 2026, checked September 2026).
Payments are next. The announcement says: “Starting soon, we will also introduce the ability for Business AI to facilitate payments directly within a WhatsApp chat using UPI” (Meta Newsroom, 14 May 2026, checked September 2026). At the time of writing that is announced, not shipped.
Two things to notice. The announcement names India, and only India, so a business in Dhaka, Lahore, Kathmandu or Colombo does not have this today. And everything it describes happens inside a chat that has already started. Both matter for what comes next.
What a chat is good at, and what it is not
An assistant that answers on WhatsApp at midnight, in the customer’s own language, is a real help. We are not against it. But a chat has a shape, and four things do not fit inside it.
A chat starts after someone found you
Nobody searching for "dentist near me" lands in your WhatsApp. They land on a page. Google shows web pages and, since this year, public Instagram posts and short videos (Google Search Central documentation, last updated 29 July 2026). A conversation between you and one customer is not something a stranger can find.
A chat is not a place to browse
Thirty dishes with prices, the doctors and their days, the classes and the trainers. People decide before they message. A page shows all of it at once; a chat shows one answer at a time.
A chat is one thread
When a booking is agreed in a chat, it lives in that chat. Fifty bookings are fifty threads. A form on your site puts every booking in one list you can open on a Tuesday morning.
The next customer asks the same question
Hours, prices, parking, whether you deliver. An answer written once on the page is answered for everyone. An answer typed in a chat is answered for one person.
The chat answers. The site takes the booking.
That is the whole division of labour. Let the chat do what it is built for: a quick answer to the person who already found you. Give your business a front door for everyone else: a page on your own address with the hours, the menu or the catalogue, and a form that takes the booking or the order without anyone typing a reply.
And put the money where it belongs. From the Hobby plan a JustCopy app can charge your users at your own prices, with JustCopy keeping its cost and a share of the markup, and on the Business plan you collect through your own Stripe and keep it all (pricing page). UPI in a WhatsApp chat, when it arrives, is a payment method. A site is where the order and the record of it live.
Have both, in four steps
Nothing here needs a developer. The site is built from one sentence, on your phone, and the chat keeps working as it does today.
- 1
Build the site from one sentence
Open justcopy.ai/?app=clinic for a clinic with doctors, hours and an appointment request form, /?app=restaurant for a menu with table reservations, /?app=fitness-studio for a schedule with free trial bookings, or /?app=online-store for a catalogue with a cart and checkout. Type your business name under the demo and it goes on the page.
- 2
Publish in one tap and put the link everywhere
Publish gives you the link and a QR code. Put it in your WhatsApp Business profile, in your Instagram bio, on your Facebook page and on the counter. The chat answers; the page takes the booking.
- 3
Watch the bookings arrive
Every form submission lands in the Data tab of your studio. People who sign up on your site appear under Customers. Nothing to scroll back for.
- 4
Add Rosa when the questions outgrow you
From the $49 plan, Rosa, your front desk, answers customers on your website about hours, prices and services and takes orders. She answers from what is posted on the site, so what people hear is what you wrote. The Follow-up agent, on the same plan, follows up every morning with people who asked but did not book.
After every build the app is used in front of you: the form is filled in, sent and checked, and anything that fails is fixed free before the agent says “Done”. The demo runs on the homepage before you sign in.
Rosa is the front desk, on your site
Rosa is not a chat app. She sits on your website, answers customers about hours, prices and services, and takes orders, and she answers from what the site says. If a customer asks whether you open Monday morning, the reply comes from the hours you posted, not from a guess. The Follow-up agent works the other end: every morning it follows up with people who asked but did not book.
Both are included from the $49 plan, and both can be switched on from the Agents page of your business once the site exists. Nothing to install, nothing to configure, no other tools to buy.
Questions
Is Business AI available outside India?
Meta’s announcement of 14 May 2026 covers small businesses in India, in the WhatsApp Business app, and says eligible businesses must meet certain criteria (Meta Newsroom, checked September 2026). It does not name other countries.
If the chat can book an appointment, why do I need a website?
The chat books for the person already talking to you. The website is how the next person finds you on Google, reads your hours and prices without asking, and books without a conversation. It is also the one place every booking is listed.
Does Rosa replace WhatsApp?
No. Rosa answers on your website, about the hours, prices and services posted there, and takes orders. Keep WhatsApp for the customers who prefer it. The two do different jobs.
What does it cost where I am?
Building and publishing with the JustCopy badge is free: 3 AI builds a day and 5 projects. Your own domain without the badge is $9.99 a month on the Hobby plan. In India, Brazil, Indonesia and 13 more countries the Starter plan shows in your local currency at checkout. Rosa and the Follow-up agent are included from the $49 plan.
Give your business a front door.
One sentence becomes your site, with the hours, the menu and a booking form. Keep WhatsApp for the chat. Free to start.
